What to expect on your first visit
Your first consultation at the practice will last approximately one hour. During your first visit a detailed history of your present and previous complaints will be taken together with any relevant medical history.
This is followed by…
A thorough osteopathic examination. From this your condition or diagnosis will be explained to you and a suitable course of treatment carried out, if appropriate.
Normally the treatment of a patient is determined according to their progression. Some patients may need as few as one or two treatments, others may have a course of therapy or return periodically for the long-term management of a condition. Advice may be provided on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms from recurring.
Treatment techniques include a wide range of gentle manual non-invasive, techniques including joint articulation, manipulation stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension and to encourage the blood and nerve supply to tissues.
